Budapest is a contrast of rough, dark streets and tiny dingy bars and tobacconists and then huge fancy cafes, sparkling restaurants and polished stone squares. There is such a difference between the edges of the city and then the centre. Budapest is the city of bridges and when you cross over, on the other side is the Matthias Church. This is another catholic church whose carved turret decoration and tiled roof stand out more then the inside decor. Surrounding this church along the bank is the Fisherman's Bastion, a neo-Gothic terrace which gives a splendid view over the river and city.
