FLORENCE

Florence is a beautiful ever winding city with statues and fountains popping up everywhere. The streets are far narrower then Rome and the river running through the city gives it a far more fresher feeling. The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is Florence's cathedral. The outside is one of the most exquisite buildings I have ever seen, the white and green stone carved into endless patters, decorations and figurines. It is some what of a let out when you step inside and see that the interior is the same as any catholic temple of worship. Florence is the city of fountains and fountain faces, spurting water, dancing at the edge of pools and pulling faces and these were fantastic to draw. We visited the Uffizi Gallery and saw the 'Birth of Venus' and 'Primavera' by Botticelli along with hundreds of other paintings and statues mainly religious or honouring some god. The have a huge selection of Christian icon art.
