Baring in mind my greatest inspirations and influences, something that my summer project must reflect on is the fact that I am inter railing Europe for seven weeks this summer. From July the 18th I will be visiting (as planned at the moment) Rome, Florence, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Slovenia and Croatia. With this in mind I felt that my project needed to be based on this. For my dissertation I will be looking at Bone Churches or Chapels of Bone and I plan to visit two of them on my travels one in Rome and one in Prague.
During my travels I will keep a visual journal and documentation of what I see and the places explored. I will try and write posts on here while I am away and then catch up when I return. I will be photographing my discoveries and documenting with writing what i see as well. I plan to focus mainly on churches, grave yards and religious and death related buildings and objects so my research can also be reflected in my dissertation. The plan is to then create lino cuts from my observational drawings and documentations in my visual journal when I return and from these create a lino print concertina book. Everything is a bit undecided as it depends on what I discover on my trip. Also I know the actual printing of the book will be slightly difficult as I am not sure when the print room is open but if that fails I will create a fanzine from my images.
